Bill Barber was one of the first modern jazz tuba player. He was part of his band playing the tuba Institute before starting his studies at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music. After graduating from the Army in 1945, found his first job as a professional musician in the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra. Two years later he debuted as a jazz musician by the revolutionary Claude Thornhill and his orchestra, one of the first to rescue the so-called “bass wind” for jazz posbebop. Barber led the first batch of modern jazz tuba player with Red Callender, Jay McAllister and Don Butterfield. Chet Baker, born in the atmosphere of a typical rural farm in the region of Oklahoma. By 1940, his family moved to California, where his father, amateur guitarist, he instilled a love for jazz through discs Jack Teagarden, a trombonist in the era of swing. His first instrument was a trombone logically, but its future was not written to slide rods, but to push pistons. Singer and actress. Born in Newport News, Virginia, USA. It began as a dancer and won an amateur competition in Philadelphia in 1933, which gave him the opportunity to work on some tours. In 1938 he won another singing contest at Harlem’s Apollo Theater so got a job at several “bigbands” as those of Noble Nissle, Edgar Hayes, Cab Calloway, and Cootie Williams. In 1952, she married drummer Louie Bellson.
He started playing the film Carmen Jones in 1954, she appeared in numerous films, television, and shows of the era, including the famous: Hello, Dolly! In 1967. His autobiography entitled The Raw Pearl, was published in 1968. Read the rest of this entry »

Nina Simone wanted to address the stereotypes that marked the jazz during the ’50s and 60 which reflect both his personality and his style. The singer died on April 21 to 70 years in the city of Paris. “Jazz is a word white for black music” was the term coined by jazz diva.
Nina Simone reflected in the peak season versatility for all sorts of rhythms, mergers and creative freedom. She walked with equal wit and l by styles like jazz, soul, blues, gospel and even pop. His performance was beyond the technical levels and generated high emotions Prinicpal classified under the genre of soul in its creative side better developed. Somehow, it was known as the greatest promoter of female soul. Nina also noted for its social events that fought for civil rights in America. Although his family was of Austrian origin, Fred Astaire was born and raised in America. Since very little was noted for his talent for dance. He learned to dance by following the example of his sister Adele would form the musical duo. At eleven debuts together in the theater and joined would last until Fred had sixteen. Together, they made numerous tours throughout the country and featured such hits as “Over the top”. In 1917, participating in both conquered Broadway musicals by George Gershwin (why collaterally came to jazz) and Jerome Kern. Louis Armstrong was born on 4 July 1900 at New Orleans (Louisiana) within a very poor family and one of the slums of the city. No musical background in his family, his interest in the art will germinate hearing in his hometown touch the famous marching bands that usually neorleanesas the avenues of the city. His first contact with music came at a reform school for abandoned children when it is supported by good conduct on the band’s reformatory. He advised by the music director of the same, Peter Davis, opt for the trumpet and other instruments.

Miguel Anga Diaz, former drummer of the legendary group Irakere, Afro C uban All Stars, and S ocial Buenavista Club, has worked with S teve Coleman, Chick Corea, Roy Hargrove and other jazz musicians, with the latter getting a Grammy his album “Havana.” The son of a saxophonist and clarinetist, he studied elementary school in Pinar del Rio province. At age 10, won a scholarship to travel to the National School of Art Instructors in Havana, where he enrolled at the secondary level. In those years, alternating attendance at this school with courses that follows in the National Art School and began working on the soundtracks of films and documentaries with Jose Maria Vitier.
