Born on Long Island (New York) in 1918, bassist Chubby Jackson, played during the forties with the band of Charlie Barnet (1941-1943) and Woody Herman (1943-1946) and later with Charlie septet Ventura (1947).

Chubby Jackson, played with a five-string bass designed by it, and envisioned as a talent scout for some record companies have entered the jazz scene in New York the pianist Lennie Tristano.
