Buddy Bolden
Buddy Bolden, was the first and brightest star of jazz. A man with all the genetic traits of black Creole from New Orleans. Able to take down any intake of alcohol, womanizing bully with a pattern verging on violence, was proclaimed in the early twentieth century as the best jazz trumpeter of all New Orleans. The Legend of Buddy Bolden was increased by the failure to own any recordings available – disappeared from the jazz scene, well before the recording industry began to walk – and yet those who were fortunate enough to listen, speak of him and with the trumpet sound like the man who played the blues slower and persuasive of all known musicians.
