PEPPER ADAMS
Considered one of the most promising musicians of his time, at age 17 and worked at the Lucky Tohmpson orchestra in Detroit. Baritone sax virtuoso, where he became one of its great musicians, in 1957 was voted Best in the category of "New Stars" by the prestigious magazine "Down Beat". At that time it was common to see him play among the largest and Stan Kenton, Chet Baker or Benny Goodman himself. In 1965 his career took a tremendous boost when he joined one of the great jazz orchestras of the sixties, the trumpet player had T Jones and Mel Lewis.
Pepper Adams, revolutionized the way of playing the baritone sax and showed that the potentialuse of that instrument had not been exhausted.
Nicknamed "The Knife" (knife) for their extraordinary and cutting "alone", Pepper Adams, with the teacher as Gerry Mulligan, the most extraordinary pair of white jazz musicians playing the baritone sax.
