Horacio Fumero
The Argentine master of the double bass, Horacio Fumero started his musical studies at the Conservatorio Manuel De Falla de Buenos Aires and at the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1973 he traveled to Europe with Gato Barbieri to participate in the Montreux Jazz Festival and made several tours of major jazz festivals in Europe (Warsaw, Rome, Paris, Stockholm, Madrid, Zagreb, Copenhagen). During this period, reside in Geneva, where he continued his studies and works with the Orchestra to 'Cordes de Lausanne and various jazz groups in Switzerland. In 1980 he settled in Barcelona. Since 1981 the trio was part of Tete Montoliu with whom he worked continuously on
festivals, television programs and recordings until his death in 1997. He also played, among others, Freddie Hubbard, Johnny Griffin, Horace Parlan, Danilo Perez, Joe Newman, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Philip Catherine, George Cables, Idris Muhammad, Bobby Hutcherson, Cedar Walton, Sal Nistico, Jerome Richardson, Oliver Jones, and Woody Shaw.
Has worked with: Orquestra de Cambra del Teatre Lliure de Barcelona (Spain, France, Israel), Granada Symphony Orchestra, Lluis Vidal Trio, duo with Albert Bover, Festival de Jazz de San Sebastián and Andrej Olejniczack Gery Brown, Festival Terrassa Jazz with James Moody, touring with Melva Houston, Dick Oatts, Andrés Segovia Chamber Orchestra of Madrid, Lalo Schiffrin with the Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona (OCB), Benny Golson, Jessie Davis, Adrian Iaies, José Reinoso & Repique also to lead his own jazz trio. Since 1999 has performed annually in the galas organized by the General Society of Spanish Authors (SGAE) to act at successive concerts in memory of the late Tete Montoliu. In 2003 the newspaper "El Mundo" was awarded a prize in recognition of his career.
He currently resides in Barcelona, has worked on the recording of over fifty albums with different musicians and a professor at the Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya (ESMUC).
