Cesaria Evora was born in Mindelo, on the island of San Vicente, Cape Verde in 1941. Before explode in the international music scene, had to make many efforts and many sacrifices. Finally in 1988 he published his first album, The diva aux pieds nus, whose song lulucha Bia, a mixture of coladera and zouk, became very popular in the community of Cape Verde.
Two years after he published his second album, Distino of belata, which contains mornas acoustic and electric coladeras. But the albums that helped to greatly enlarge its audience, particularly among Europeans, was Mar Azul, released in 1991, followed by Miss Perfumado. Then started out the first collection of his greatest successes as Sodade, les plus belles Mornas de Cesaria Evora, flanked dall'album Cesaria, who won the gold disc in France and gets nominated for Grammy Awards. A number of its concerts in Europe and the U.S., increasingly shared by the general public.
