The Quai Branly Museum in Paris in an exhibition celebrating the first century of jazz music and shows its relations with other arts such as painting, photography and literature, justified their responsibility.
Over 2,000 square feet available from tomorrow, in chronological order, a multidisciplinary reading of jazz through pictures of great masters of twentieth-century paintings, musical scores, recordings, record covers, excerpts from films and cartoons, magazines, books and photographs.
Attracted by this style of music, artists like Dali, Warhol, Mondrian, Pollock, Matisse, Man Ray and Tàpies collaborated on the cover design, such as bringing together the exhibition organized by the Paris museum in collaboration with the Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona (CCCB). The pianist and composer Dave Brubeck will be honored among other big stars during the awards ceremony Kennedy Center Honors in Washington.
The event was held at the John F. Center Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on 6 December. During the gala, will also be honored actor Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen musician and opera singer Grace Bumbry. Read the rest of this entry »

The Vitoria Jazz Festival, which this year celebrates its 33rd edition, will pay tribute to the legendary Billie Holiday, the July 17, coinciding with the day that marks the 50th anniversary of his death. Madeleine Peyroux and the singers Dee Dee Bridgewater finally replaced Randy Crawford and pianist Joe Sample, originally scheduled in this tribute, and have canceled his appointments for health problems.
This was emphasized today the festival director Iñaki Anna, during the presentation in Madrid of this edition, to be held between 12 and 18 July in the capital of Alava, offering a total of 62 concerts, 42 of them free. Read the rest of this entry »
