The President of Palau de la Musica, Mayrén Beneyto, accompanied by the manager CPJazz, Julio Marti, have presented the XIII Festival Jazz Music Palace, to be held from 7 to 17 July and offers nine concerts with great characters international and Lizz Wright, Dianne Reeves, Paquito D’Rivera, Chano Dominguez, Perico Sambeat, Brad Melhdau, Wynton Marsalis and the Orchestra of Valencia, which debuts at the Festival. Benny Goodman was born a century ago, there was nothing to predict who would become a great jazz. Goodman was white, the son of Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, and the music of blacks, which was played at that time in bars, clubs and brothels, he was totally weird.
However, marked milestones in the history of jazz. He earned the title of “King of Swing” and was the musician who gave the first jazz concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, a temple of classical music. This Saturday 30 had completed one hundred years. Read the rest of this entry »

Had little 72 year old, singer and guitarist for Jazz and Rhythm & Blues Snooks Eaglin, died last Wednesday to the Associated Press. The musician, blind since very young, died of a heart attack at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans where he was hospitalized. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
This excellent jazz musician, was known for his peculiar way of playing the guitar. Born in 1936 in New Orleans, soon lost sight of glaucoma. His father gave him a guitar at age six and he only learned to play by imitating the sounds he heard on the radio and accompanied by the harmonica from his father. Read the rest of this entry »

The jazz musician Duke Ellington will become the first African American to be enshrined in a currency in U.S. history, said the director of the cas of U.S. currency Ed Moy.
The currency was officially launched during a press conference hosted at the Museum of American History, and appeared in her surprise, the image of the mythical figure of the Jazz, with his trusty piano. Read the rest of this entry »
