In 1959, when he was about to start in the U.S. the decade of black revolt, psychedelic rock, the sexual revolution, the troops sent to Vietnam and the appearance of man on the moon, jazz had already shaken the foundations of the culture of that country. It was jazz that best anticipated the desire of American youth changed.

After the rebellion of hard bop and the black counterculture movement that influenced musicians like Coltrane, Adderley, Blakey, Mingus and Roch, broke away from the sociopolitical issues of racial identity to turn itself into music young white middle-class university. Getz , Brubeck, Desmond and Evans would give the Jazz an aura of intellectualism outside the incendiary spirit of hard bop, he repudiated the trivialization of black music and stylized rigidity of swing, until then master of the dance clubs.

In that year, when the Jazz away from political radicalism to become much more lyrical music, reflective and introspective emerge Kind of Blue, Miles Davis, an album that according to Herbie Hancock “is not only a milestone in jazz recordings but a cornerstone of the music “Giant Steps, John Coltrane’s, Time Out, by Dave Brubeck, Mingus Ah Um, of Charles Mingus, and The shape of love, of Ornette Coleman, thus completing one of the last moments and avant-garde jazz collective rather than the rock eventually come crashing down all established order.

Without doubt, the album that these days most of the attention is focused Kind of Blue, recorded 50 years ago in New York. For many, it is a masterpiece of world music, for others, a paradigm of creative freedom that alone sufficed to five pieces and two recording sessions in March and April 1959.

No wonder that Columbia Records has projected Kind of Blue: 50th Anniversary Legacy Edition, which joins other commemorative editions appeared in previous years. The difference is that this feature takes almost 7 minutes of study. In parallel, many tributes have been devoting a Kind of Blue, as that which took place in February at the Rose Theater in New York with the participation of James “Jimmy” Cobb, who had the luxury of recording drums in Kind of Blue and in Giant Steps, for its part issued BBC Four 1959: The year that changed jazz and dusted the CBS special The sound of Miles Davis, which records the two recording sessions for Kind of Blue.

In Colombia, as HJCK specialized stations, Javeriana Stereo Radio HJUT and Six Fingers, also followed suit.

With 50 of Kind of Blue has been revividohistorias on recording sessions with the participation of musicians from the likes of John Coltrane, Bill Evans, “Cannonball” Adderley, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. A sextet of luxury that only Miles Davis could muster. He says for example that three of the tracks were recorded in the wrong tone, Wynton Kelly who became angry when he came to study and came across Bill Evans, quoted by surprise by Davis and Kind of Blue that comes from some scribbles Davis surrendered to the musicians without further indications. The result is a totally improvised album.

“How can it appear at least study and come up with something eternal?” Questioned Carlos Santana on a documentary on Kind of Blue reissue included in the Sony-BMG in Spain.

The anecdotes, the different versions of how it all happened in the spring of 1959 that would change the history of jazz, already part of the legend. What is important is for these five items do not saturate, in his 45 minutes of fame do not age, not tired.

They say the secret of lasting relationships is not so much as to learn to love each be wrong. Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent and Tino di Geraldo accidentally started out as a flamenco jazz trio one night 12 years ago in Barcelona and in view the absence of the rest of the band. And take so long after stupendously bad.

The experience. They recognized his skill and the paths that each has opened in Spain on his instrument (saxophones and flute, bass and drums, respectively). Also, they have learned a few things to their 55, 52 and 48 years.

Jorge Pardo: “The secret? Bringing life but never seen together everyday …. ” Carles Benavent: “… And take your business out there, aside …”. Tino di Geraldo: “Although at times difficult. We must breathe deeply. They are different ways of seeing things. You get more and more and more marked personalities. It takes a long of ‘I shut up, because for what. ”

The band meeting around the table one of those restaurants castizos toast of Madrid where the queen is due to unprecedented sensational album that just published with New Media. An album that closes with a song about a deep breath and stop the blood river road. Hold me to kill him is a key outlet in flamenco funk, written and directed by Benavent Di Geraldo. “I wrote as if he had murdered the truth is that I would have been very sad,” recalls the first Catalan sarcastically. 10 years ago the trio’s final sound recording: a whiplash recorded at the Teatro Central in Seville. This time the spirits are calmer and the subtlety adorned songs. It might seem too long. More in an industry mired in a perfect storm. “This is like having a girlfriend,” says Di Geraldo. “Sales with her a lot of time, but when you marry that block.” “I do not care about records,” said Jorge Pardo, who, despite years and perhaps because of that gipsy hair, still looking like a clever boy from Las Ventas. “These are cards where my name, my phone and what I do. The direct is the only truth. ” It is in this certainty where the trio has forged since Benavent and Brown were related for nearly three decades, “tested in house of Paco de Lucia, before becoming pillars of great jazz sextet of guitar, and since Di Geraldo appeared the scene as the drummer for shrimp. The proximity of the study Eurosonic, a ruined building and a piece of music history that the perennial crisis procrastination and left to die, brings up those issues that distract the attention of music at the moment is music. Why make records? Do we hear songs or poor quality computer files? ¿Vuelve el vinilo? “I’m tired of all this crisis,” Pardo replenished. “From selling songs online, from piracy. It is not my business. ”

It is clear that Brown is a guy with opinions. “On the Persecution of jazz in Madrid? “Culture is not just something that occurs at 9.30 in college. It also happens in a gambling den at 4.00. “In the absence of a trio of summer festivals? “It seems that we are denied the greeting.” And Paco de Lucia? “He is a guy whose rupture, are always traumatic … In our case, we live it as a natural process. We get annoyed to have disappeared from his life. There is not in their videos, and documentaries, or books. ” at the time that Brown was released in the table as one of his outbursts in the flute unmistakable – “I have to eat with the old and the oldest first”, says the trio’s roles will be undone as a block of ice on a grill.

Since Konstantin Zhenya decided to present a Scottish radio show some issues during his stay in Spain recorded with a recorder in proceedings of the Spanish quintet Miguel Salvador Project, the purists of the genre critics have almost unanimously applauded by the Spanish quintet, recommending assistance to those willing to listen to quality jazz does not bend to modern forms of subverting an incisive gender.

The quintet, led by Miguel himself Salvador, guitar virtuoso, is dedicated to classical music versioning gender issues and expose them in a fairly intimate and personal to public minority actions generally focus on Spain, however, is likely to After the critical acclaim of purists, any label is interested in the quintet to be locked up in studio and record an album.

Konstantin Zhenya said at the station you know “a lot of data on the band,” such as “if they have any album recorded, but sensed that, because” sometimes they lack the commercial technique that provides record albums with commercial producers “But for Zhenya that’s even better, as well the band has not been” hit and misleading “by translating the commerciality and achieve” a more purist jazz and logical “in the contemporary genre, but be faithful to the traditions of the purists.

This event marks the sixtieth anniversary of the first presentation of the artist in Paris, and the 50th anniversary of the launch of its most successful production, Kind of Blue.

The show, considered the largest conducted on music, including personal belongings of his life as clothing, tools, photos, scores and recordings marketed. Most items were donated by the Davis estate to carry out the exhibition.

Vincent Bessières, curator, says that not only aims to pay tribute to the artist, but you want to reach young people and arouse their interest in jazz through one of the most significant figures of the genre. According Bessières, We Want Miles meets the two essential features to engage audiences with a genre: music and the story of an artist.

City Cultural Center music now comprises the entire life of Miles Davis through their personal belongings, including times when they have not enjoyed her fame as a musician. After receiving over 1,600 visits in its first weekend, there are widespread expectations with the exhibition, which will be available to the public until January 2010.

The production contains 12 topics on which Benson revels in his particular style, but never ceases to amaze with the versatility with which he walks among the various genres of jazz and soul.
After a career spanning five decades and over 70 record productions, Benson once again delighted his audience with this new release, in addition to the reissue of the DVD Live from Montrieux, which was recorded at a concert in the Swiss town in the year 1986.

To promote his new album, Benson has been visiting several countries in Europe as part of a brief media tour.

Since 2007, Benson had not pitched a new production. The latter was the album titled George Benson Live, which was released in October 2007.

The American trumpeter Miles Davis launched August 17, 1959 an album that would be a reference in the history of jazz. Tratabajo disc is “Kind Of Blue”, not the kind of jazz discs that went on to sell more copies with nearly 20 million sales. Even today continues to rise the number of weekly sales to about 5,000 approximately.

According to Jimmy Cobb, drummer of the sextet who participated, “Kind of Blue” was made in heaven. A framework not only of jazz history but also the history of music as pianist Herbie Hancock says. The album was recorded in just two sessions at Columbia Studio Recors 30th. On March 2, 1959 were made recordings of songs and on April 22 completed the LP with “Flamenco Sketches” and “All Blues”.

The musicians of the album were as trumpeter Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Julian “Cannonball” Adderley and saxophone players, like pianist Bill Evans would incisions replace by Wynton Kelly on “Freddie Freeloader”, the bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Jimmy Cob. The only white the sextet was Bill Evans.

The album is a true reflection of improvisation and musical talent naturally collated. “Miles Davis They did these songs in just a few hours of recording and came up with some sketches for the group that showed how to proceed. Thus, we can feel the spontaneity and lack of artifice in the proceedings.

Bill Evans compared the performance of Kind Of Blue with a discipline of Japanese painting in which the artist had to paint within a narrow parchment without the possibility of making mistakes. Also the technique of Miles Davis was revolutionary: the famous “Modal Jazz” instead of changing chords Bepop that was used on a single scale.

The chemistry of improvisation flowed into a jazz album that the singer recorded Bogota in 2007 in one night, at the moment is one of the novelties of the genus in stores.

Slightly less than 500 copies of the album ‘My One And Only Love’ rested for two years under the bed of the married Germain Herrera and Tatiana Janer.

Some have become Christmas presents for relatives, for what he least expected was that one day become the repeated requests from shops.

The album of singer Bogota, which emerged as an informal meeting and a night with Spanish musicians Iñaki Sandoval (piano), David Mengual (bass), and her husband (drums), managed to appear to the radio recently and became , of overnight, one of the most requested by listeners to stations like The W.

Quite an event for someone who a few days before becoming a radio phenomenon was engaged to sing at ceremonies like weddings and funerals.

“The day it came out in The W I had no idea, and my mom called me mad, why he had not warned, and took me by surprise,” recalls the artist, who graduated from university music of the Andes and El Bosque.

‘My One And Only Love’ is a compilation of 10 songs core jazz and bossa nova, as “Corcovado” (Jobim), ‘Cry Me A River’, ‘When I Fall In Love’, ‘Route 66′, ‘This Masquerade’ and, of course, which gives its name to the album, in light versions.

“Everything was independent and also improvised-Janer recalled. We recorded in five hours, so the ‘cool crowd’. “

That was how, one day later to relate in a ‘touch’ at the Academy improvised Cristancho, the four musicians booked a studio and that night went to record, making decisions on the fly. Block-recorded everything for some tracks were only one shot.

At the end of the day, and as for the record, called a friend who took the photos that still makes up the cover and disc contracarátula.

It was thanks to the Jazz Festival and The Golden dragonfly that met another pianist and a bassist to present the material live, the singer was released to project the disc through the distributor Millennium. Today they have a fan club on Facebook and Janer no longer surprised to see a row on the sites offering concerts.

After eight years of playing jazz, early music since before he sang, Janer projected for mid-July will make an official presentation of the album at a concert.
