Aziza Mustafa Zadeh

azizamustafaAziza Mustafa Zadeh, daughter of the late pianist Vagif Mustafa Zadeh (from whom we must mention the work "Aspiration" and who invented a kind of fusion of jazz and native Azerbaijan), born in 1969, following the same steps as his father. His appearances in several events in Europe led him to sign with the seal Sonny. With a rushing attack, especially in their own explosives, their intensity, but his style is reminiscent of the early bebop pianists. This becomes especially clear when scat singing at high speed in getting a wild relationship between the piano and voice, often on metric outside the Western tradition, but common in Baku.  This native of Azerbaijan, is undoubtedly one of

the two great piano players from Asia (the other is the great Toshiko Akiyoshi). Endowed with a great virtuosity, his music is emotional, sentimental, and this without compromising their roots, or his land. With a technique that combines talent and sensitivity, Aziza Mustafa presented in each of his records his own compositions, "is an accomplished teacher of composition, being his second album:" Always, "with eleven songs own the most popular and award-winning record abroad. The accompanying two-class musicians in the field of jazz: the bassist John Patitucci and drummer Dave Weckl, give prominence to the Session. His training as a classical pianist at the Baku Conservatory, his love of jazz, his penchant for singing and the traditional sounds of Azerbaijan, is a wonderful combination to form a highly original style of music and a bridge between East and West. Aziza musically born maid speaking in the world of Mugham (pronounced MOO-GAM). In Azerbaijan, the Mugham has two meanings: one refers to a modal system of music, and the second refers to a trio to perform this kind of music, led by a singer accompanied by musicians. One of the founders of this traditional and improvised music of Azerbaijan, was the father of Aziza: Vagif Mustafa Zadeh. That form of "Asian jazz" developed strongly in the mid-sixties and seventies and in 1978 his father represented to the former Soviet Union in the Monaco Jazz Festival getting the first prize and making himself cry to Dizzy Gillespie, the music he heard was the most spectacular I had heard and would be the fututo jazz. In 1994, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, won the Academy of Music, the most prestigious award in Germany musically. If what she is really playing jazz, is something she has never given importance. For her, jazz, folk and classical music are simply not separate categories. She fits into the three types of music. What is she avoids being pigeonholed into a shape. As Al Di Meola said last year: "Aziza is as bright as it is as a composer as pianist. Note: Before Vagif Mustafa Zadeh Mugham synthesizing and jazz, had already been incorporated into opera in the work of Azerbaijani composer, Uzeyir Hajibeyov in the first decade of the twentieth century, when it was introduced into Western symphonic music for the first time Azerbaijani composer, Fikrat Amirov the mid-forties.
