ETHAN IVERSON

ethaniversonOriginally from Wisconsin (1973), in 1991 he moved to New York and began studies with Fred Hersch and Sophia Rosoff. Recorded her first album in 1993: School Work, where he played with the tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman. Since then, Ethan Iverson has worked extensively with bassist Reid Anderson (his constant collaborator) and saxophonists Mark Turner, Bill McHenry and Patrick Zimmerli, among others. He has also served as music director of the Mark Morris Dance Group and as such, has been with Mikhail Baryshnikov and others. INSTABILE ITALIAN ORCHESTRA

Their repertoire over the years have been a clearly defined combination of themes of jazz, experimental and dances, with elaborate arrangements that can appreciate the virtuosity of the soloists and the quality of the compositions. GERHARD ILLI

gerhardilli Swiss drummer based in Spain, Gerhard Illi adopted as a child his love for percussion banging everything that fell into their hands. ABDULLAH IBRAHIM

abdullahibrahimConvert to Islam, the South African pianist Adolphe Johannes Brand, (Cape Town, South Africa) adopted the Islamic name Abdullah Ibrahim, the late sixties.

Composer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist, his beginnings were in the African country in 1949 when he participated in the groups, Tuxedo Slickers and the Willie Max Big Band. Then coincided with other great African musicians like singer Miriam Makeba and trumpeter Hugh Masekela, but what helped launch to fame was the boost received from the master, Duke Ellington, who praised him and recognized him as the best pianist and composer of the African continent. Dick Hyman

dickhyman Dick Hyman, was born in New York, 8 March 1927. Multifaceted musician and composer, piano virtuoso, and able to play all styles of jazz from ragtime, to bebop and interpreting the music of Scott Joplin or Cecil Taylor. He studied at Columbia University and played with figures renowned jazz, including Teddy Wilson, Red Norvo (1949) and Benny Goodman (1950).
